  • Success Strategies for Creative Souls #82: Website Marketing Tips

Your website is a creative act, but also needs to communicate with your audience. Here are some tips to keep in mind as you design or revise your web presence:
    1) Create a site that is engaging, like you! Think of what would be appealing to your target market and expresses your individuality.
    2) Make sure your site is intuitive and easy to navigate. Test it out on lots of people and review other competitive sites too.
    3) Have a number of "call to actions" so that people can take a quiz, read an article, or buy something from you.
    4) Change offerings often as new items keep people coming back.
    5) Have a Press section with a photo and quotes so that the media can tap into you as a resource.
    6) Do an e-zine even if it's only quarterly and collect e- mail addresses for it. Search engines love blogs as well.
    7) Put your website in the phone book, in articles you write, in all advertising and mailings. You want to build your list of contacts.
    8) Negotiate reciprocal links with people you can cross refer to or with sites that have the same target market.
    9) Post articles in other e-zines and on other people's websites to increase your own web traffic.
    10) Hire someone to do search engine optimization for you to maximize the chances of people discovering you.

    Sweet Danger by Suzy Bogguss

My gifted and delightful cousin, talented singer Suzy Bogguss, has a new CD out called "Sweet Danger" which is her best work ever. Suzy has had an exciting career writing and singing from small clubs to country fairs to famous music halls and on television. She started with country music in Nashville and listens to her instincts and follows the muse wherever it leads her.
She does not let her style get defined by others. She instead takes positive risks, collaborates with other amazing musicians, and communes with her audiences. I recently saw her perform in Boston and she continues to be nothing short of enchanting with a voice you can't forget. Her new CD is very diverse and emotional and I especially love the songs she wrote: "It's Not Going to Happen Today" and "One Clear Moment".
