  • Success Strategies for Creative Souls#77: Lost in the Creative Desert
    desert and sole runner

Is your creative output at a standstill? Have you lost your way? Are you stuck in the void of emptiness? You are in the Creative Desert. All around you, the land seems barren and absent of life, mirroring what is inside your head. You are in the cycle of the Desert-- where the new growth is invisible to you and buried deep in the sand. And, it's not a comfortable place to be. It is painful, unnerving, creates a lot of self-doubt, and a lack of faith in the regeneration of your creative ideas and originality. It can be brought on by burnout, illness, fatigue, too many rejections, and a host of other factors. I am hearing from many of you that you are walking in circles in that Desert, trying to find a spark of inspiration.

To help you to get recharged and back on track, I am offering a Complementary Coaching Call for 50 participants on Thursday, May 17th from 1-2:15 PM EST called Blasting Through Creative Blocks. Call in and bring your struggles, heartaches and dilemma's, and we will try to resolve as many of them as time allows. Don't miss this rare opportunity to find the Oasis in the Desert. As summer approaches, you want to be able to focus on your creative project and take advantage of this magical season.

    Creative Acts and Resources

My colleague at the Creativity Coaching Association, Eric Maisel, has another new book out called Creativity for Life which I happily endorsed for him. This book focuses on four areas: the artistic personality, the challenges of the creative work, the rewards and perils of relationships, and creative practices for life. It will stimulate your thinking about the creative lifestyle and help you to make solid and grounded decisions. Check it out at http://www.ericmaisel.com

Another new book by Kristen Fischer, Creatively Self-Employed: How Writer's and Artist's Deal with Career Ups and Downs tells her own story of the freelance life combined with advice and interviews with successful freelancers. Kristen emphasizes the power of freedom in self-employment but delves into the angst of the freelance lifestyle and how to master it. Kristen's website is http://www.creativelyselfemployed.com

It's time for another A Room of Her Own Foundation Writer's Retreat on June 18-24th at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, NM. This year's theme is What Have I Done with Where I've Been. I've taught at this retreat and it's a life changing experience in a gorgeous and historical setting. For more information go to: http://www.aroomofherownfoundation.org/retre ats.html
