Strategy #31: Tuning into Your Own Personal Conscious Success
Formula
You
are a different person than you were 6 months ago. June is
a great midpoint in the year to tune into who you are now,
review your plans, and acknowledge your growth and new perspectives.
In short, it is time to rewrite your personal definition of
"success"--not rely on your family script, cultural
expectations, or our consumer-based mantra that needs us to
shop until we drop. It's time to claim your own personal power
and embrace your unique view of a great life. To spark your
thinking, I share with you one of my favorite quotes on success:
To laugh
often and much;
To
win the respect of intelligent people
and
the affection of children;
To
earn the appreciation of honest critics
and
endure the betrayal of false friends;
To
appreciate beauty;
To
find the best in others;
To
leave the world a bit better, whether
by
a healthy child, a garden patch or a
redeemed social condition;
To
know even one life has breathed easier
because
you have lived.
That
is to have succeeded.
Ralph
Waldo Emerson
Task
This
month, go out into nature with your journal or a tape recorder,
and design your own updated recipe for personal success in
your life. Listen to your inner voice of wisdom and only note
down ingredients that reflect the truth about you and your
path on this earth. Pay attention to the many ways that you
are successful already and envision future goals and dreams
as a passage to greater fulfillment, not a diminishment of
who you are today. Release other people's expectations for
your life and focus on the jewel that you are. Enjoy!

Persistence

Catherine
Wald has written a sage book of expert advice about rejection
called The Resilient Writer: Tales of Rejection and Triumph
From 23 Top Authors. Regardless of your "art,"
Catherine's interviews and axioms such as " from painful
rejections come powerful lessons" and "no one but
you can keep you from writing" are powerful reminders
that the creative journey requires fortitude and faith.
